Movie Theaters

Casablanca has a longstanding relationship with movie theaters. Each major neighborhood had one of its own, to the greatest delight of the Moroccan youth. Dark theaters, that in fact resulted in a burst of emerging artists. The arrival of big theaters in terms of size, the MEGARAMA and 3D IMAX , resulted in the shutdown of the smaller theaters, but did not thwart the people of Casablanca’s passion for cinematic art. Today, many blockbusters are even available on worldwide release in Casablanca…

Looking back on the footsteps of the movie "Casablanca" : Since the movie “Casablanca” was released in 1942, the white city conjures exoticism, romance and mystery. While this American film masterpiece was entirely filmed in Hollywood, passionate and artful entrepreneurs recreated one of the most notorious hotspots in the city: the Ricks Café.

Rialto, cinéma Art Deco

The Rialto movie theater stands at the heart of Casablanca's city center. Inspired by the Parisian Grand Rex, its Art Deco architecture made it a cultural hotspot in the 1930s and 1940s, through its film programs, as well as the concerts and other recitals organized within its premises. The audience, in either balcony or orchestra seats can enjoy, in addition to the show, a great interior design, where the woodwork and scarlet velvet endow the place with an aura with an all-too-rare intensity.

Restaurants

Are you a little hungry? Whatever the time, Casablanca will offer you a wide selection of snack bars, fast-food joints, cafés and restaurants offering the best of international cuisine. Rich from the blend of civilizations that defines the city, always drawing its inspiration from Berber, Arab, Jewish, Oriental and African influences, local cuisine is definitely not to be overlooked. Don’t miss out on its typical dishes, couscous on Fridays, its beef, vegetable or chicken tajines, its mechouis for major receptions, its pastillas, its unique pastries made of almonds, honey, fruit and orange blossom. Everything is served with a delectable cup of mint tea. We regularly suggest great places that offer original menus, full of flavor and finesse, a fusion of Moroccan, French and Mediterranean cuisine resulting in ethnic flavors able to seduce the most demanding of palates.
