The imprint of Al-Ándalus Poets in music

"Begoña Olavide and Javier Bergia present a program around spiritual poetry, they have put music to great Spanish poets from the Middle Ages to today, including Arab poets, while creating a fusion of old instruments such as medieval psaltery and modern instruments such as acoustic guitar and various percussion instruments. Begoña Olavide is an artist with a musical background that ranges from medieval to modern music. She developed her own technique around psaltery in close collaboration with luthier Carlos Paniagua. She has given concerts all over the world. From 2005 to 2012, she moved to Morocco to deepen her Andalusian music and song and was artistic director of the "Tarab Tangier" World Music Festival, created in collaboration with Omar Metioui and Confluences Musicales. Javier Bergia is considered by many critics as the authentic representative of a generation of musicians who emerged in Spain in the eighties. From an early age, he has focused on many fronts: guitar, percussion, voice, poetry and composition. He has a classical training and at the same time a long career in ethnic music, folklore, rock and poetic creation. He composed music and songs for documentaries, films, television series and theater. He has made many collaborations for the albums of well-known artists. His essential discography consists of nineteen works in vinyl and CD format. "
